NSW:Woman guilty of passport fraud

SYDNEY, Aug 27 AAP - A Sydney woman has been found guilty over her role in an alleged
fake passport scheme.

Australia Post shop worker Lara Triglia, 36, of Fairfield, on Friday was found guilty
of making a false or misleading statement as part of an Australian passport application.

A jury of seven men and five women returned the verdict to Sydney's Downing Centre
District Court, where Judge Peter Berman set down the matter for sentencing on October
8.

Police allege that at the time of Triglia's arrest in May 2009, she and another woman
were involved in a scam to create fake passports with the intention of bringing illegal
immigrants to Australia.

As an interviewing officer, Triglia was required to meet passport applicants and check
that photographs and documents matched, and to sign associated documents.
