Washington State GOP Streamlines Voting Process With iPolitics.com's Elect.Net Voting Software at State Convention.

BELLEVUE, Wash., July 25 /PRNewswire/ --

More than 1,200 Washington State Republican Party members experienced the future of voting, using iPolitics.com's proprietary Elect.Net online voting software. The Washington State Republican Party successfully elected delegates to the Republican National Convention at their recent State Convention held in Spokane, Washington. The GOP elected to use iPolitics.com's secure online voting software to avoid delays associated with conventional voting procedures, such as challenges to the validity of votes and recounts. In addition, iPolitics.com's Elect.Net software calculates results immediately, and that offered the Convention its election results in a fraction of the time expected with traditional voting methods.

The iPolitics.com team provided technical service to nine congressional Districts in three separate locations during the first round of voting. Voting stations were then set up in one central location for the next round of voting as the entire group convened to elect 10 at-large delegates and 10 alternates to the National Convention. "We're very pleased with the success of the election," comments iPolitics.com Executive Vice President and CTO Alexis Nepomuceno. "We believe that this is only one of many such instances in which secure online voting becomes an easy (and tamper-proof) alternative to more traditional paper elections -- and with an almost instantaneous tabulation of results."

The voting software from Elect.Net (a division of iPolitics.com) is a proprietary program that allows for safe and secure voting online -- and it requires no special software add-ons or downloads, just a web-enabled computer and browser. The ultimate goal of the implementation of online voting is to increase the ease of voting, and to open access to a greater number of eligible voters -- whether that vote is for public office, a labor union election or shareholder voting.

Founded in 1999 to change the business of politics, iPolitics.com is a Internet marketplace and community that benefits not only large, professionally-managed campaigns and organizations, but gives smaller, volunteer-run and local campaigns equal access political vendors and services. The result is a political, business-to-business web site that serves the needs of the political professional, the grassroots activist, and politically active organizations.
